The 3rd Annual Capital to Coast Relay (C2C3)  -  another awesome weekend of 'relay running'  - 223 miles across the great state of Texas !!!

Leave the gorgeous city of Austin, TX                    Run 223 miles thru the Texas Countryside              Finish on the Beach in Corpus!!

3rd Annual Capital to Coast Relay COMPLETE - What a great weekend!!

Austin, TX -      In what was perfect weather and conditions for beach going, the 3rd Annual Capital to Coast Relay went on without a hitch.  Sunny skies and warm temps made for a little warmer (that is being kind) than most would have liked for the start at Republic Park in Austin, as 4 waves of teams took off on their journey 223 miles to Corpus Christi in the longest relay race in Texas.  Those same sunny skies were present as they ran on to the beach in Corpus Christi, to music and fanfare.   We would like to thank all the amazing teams and runners and volunteers who made this run possible.   Thanks to Mark Purnell, who was a great and fun announcer for us as always, as well as who did a terrific radio show with interviews with teams during the race.  Congrats to Mark Purnell - who propsed to his lovely fiancee, Michelle Howard as she crossed the finish line!!

This years teams all will go home with stories and adventures, some of fun times in the van, some of dodging wild dogs in the middle of TX, some of the creative costumes and running gear along the way!   Who can forget Mike Jusko, of Team Boom Shocka Locka as he ran his 2nd leg as a TACO, and his final leg as FORREST GUMP :)

In the redunancy department, this year's team champion was the ever tough, ever speedy STW Krav Maga - led by Captain Roger Lopez.  They finished this year's 223 mile course in 26 hours and 1 minute (only 4 minutes off their course record of 25 hrs, 57 min., set last year).  This is their 3rd consecutive year of winning the event and took home their Championship Beer Steins!  This team of studs (and studettes) is from San Antonio and kept a 7:00 pace for the duration of the 223 miles. Results of all the teams can be seen here.

Once again there was some massive 'van tagging', 'guadalupe river swimming', 'wild dog chasing', and even a Forrest Gump sighting, a running banana, and running taco.   It was fun to see all the teams bond and get to know each other and the runners along the way, with several teams giving water to other teams along the course, and helping each other out.  We had teams ranging from the Univ. of Texas and Abiliene Christian Univ., to Mabry Army National Guard and Corpus Christi Air Depot, and from all parts of Texas!   Special thanks to ALL IN teams (who have run all 3 years), STW Krav Maga, Coast Busters (formerly Oh shit...we thought this was the Turkey Trot) , TBD (to be determined),  Doin Dirt (formerly PPP), and CCAD Troopers.    We also had NUMEROUS teams back from last year and are very grateful to our loyal teams :) We love you guys and are excited to see you back for the 4th Annual C2C in 2013!!

                                                    2 vans, 8- 12 teammates, 223 miles = 1 Amazing time!
