How does it work with a team of less than 12?
If your team is less than 12, then you may still compete, the only difference is that some of your runners will have to run more than 3 legs. The only thing is that once you declare a running order, you MUST stay in that order. 8 person team If you have 8 runners on the team, then each runners 1-4 will run 5 legs, runners 5-8 will run 4 legs. Runner 1 would run legs 1, 9, 17, 25, and 33. Runner 5 would run legs 5, 13, 21, and 29. Runner 2 would run legs 2, 10, 18, 26,and 34. Runner 6 would run legs 6, 14, 22, and 30. Runner 3 would run legs 3, 11, 19, 27 and 35. Runner 7 would run legs 7, 15, 23, and 31. Runner 4 would run legs 4, 12, 20, 28 and 36. Runner 8 would run legs 8, 16, 24, and 32.
9 person team If you have 9 runners on the team, then each runner will run 4 legs. Runner 1 would run legs 1, 10, 19, and 28. Runner 6 would run legs 6, 15, 24, and 33. Runner 2 would run legs 2, 11, 20, and 29. Runner 7 would run legs 7, 16, 25, and 34. Runner 3 would run legs 3, 12, 21, and 30. Runner 8 would run legs 8, 17, 26, and 35. Runner 4 would run legs 4, 13, 22, and 31. Runner 9 would run legs 9, 18, 27, and 36. Runner 5 would run legs 5, 14, 23, and 32.
10 person team If your team is made up of 10 teammates, then each runner would run every 10 legs, until the race is complete. Runners 1-6 would run 4 legs, runners 7-10 would only run 3 legs. Runner 1 would run legs 1, 11, 21, and 31. Runner 6 would run legs 6, 16, 26, and 36. Runner 2 would run legs 2, 12, 22, and 32. Runner 7 would run legs 7, 17, and 27. Runner 3 would run legs 3, 13, 23, and 33. Runner 8 would run legs 8, 18, and 28. Runner 4 would run legs 4, 14, 24, and 34. Runner 9 would run legs 9, 19, and 29. Runner 5 would run legs 5, 15, 25, and 35. Runner 10 would run legs 10, 20, and 30.
11 person team If your team is made up of 11 teammates, then each runner would run every 11 legs, until the race is complete. Runners 1-3 would run 4 legs, runners 4-11 would only run 3 legs. Runner 1 would run legs 1, 12, 23, and 34. Runner 7 would run legs 7, 18, and 29. Runner 2 would run legs 2, 13, 24, and 35. Runner 8 would run legs 8, 19, and 30. Runner 3 would run legs 3, 14, 25, and 36. Runner 8 would run legs 9, 20, and 31. Runner 4 would run legs 4, 15, and 26. Runner 9 would run legs 10, 21, and 32. Runner 5 would run legs 5, 16, and 27.
